What is the Full Form of GIF
Full Form of GIF is Graphics Interchange Format. Familiar GIF most commonly refers to a brief, animated picture without sound. GIF is a creation of CompuServe, GIF is used to store multiple bitmap images in a single file for exchange between platforms and systems.
What is GIF
Gif is more about the format, quoting a bit of video or animation. The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel for each image. CompuServe introduced GIFs on 15 June 1987 to provide a color image format. CompuServe encouraged adoption of GIFs by providing downloadable conversion utility for multiple computers. Conceptually, the GIF file describes a fixed-sized graphical region (“logical screen”) that is populated with zero or more images. GIF files begin with a fixed-length header (“GIF87a” or “GIF89a”).
Usage of GIF
- Used to store low-color sprite data for games.
- Used for short animations and low resolution video clips.
